MERRY CHRISTMAS!

We, at Bentley Barn Quilts, wish all our barn quilt family of friends a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. May you celebrate this joyful time in the spirit of the real reason for the season, the Christ child's birth. May Jesus be the focus of your life all the year long!

In Christ's love, Mark and Pat Bentley

BBQ GIFT CERTIFICATES

It's too late for us to complete any new orders by Christmas but we do offer BBQ Gift Certificates now. These would make great Christmas gifts and allow the receiver more time to decide which pattern and colors they prefer. If your interested in a barn quilt to be shipped, unfortunately we can only ship sizes up to 2 foot square. Give us a call if you're interested and thanks for your business. 217-473-8555.

STAINED OHIO STAR FLAG

Tried my hand at doing a stained 1 foot barn quilt with flat paints. It turned out fairly well. We'll think about adding these to our inventory but for now I just hung it in my shop.

LONE STAR

This is the 100th barn quilt that we've made! That may not sound like many to our fellow barn quilt makers but it's a big milestone for us since we started the business last year.

This is a close copy of one that John Stadtmiller, from Laurel Barn Quilts, tells me was first done by Jo Ann May from Ripley Ohio and displayed in 2006 on the Brown County Ohio quilt trail. Thanks for all your help John!

I've changed the colors slightly from the original design but kept the "Lone Star" pattern. Though the picture makes the border look black, it's actually dark blue to match the inner star.

This happened to be an odd size board measuring 45.5" and will not be for sale because of it's significance and, hopefully, will be soon hanging on display at Buck & Jo's Too's restaurant in Winchester, IL.

Thanks for looking.

A FLASH OF DIAMONDS

Finished this 2 x 2 barn quilt for a customer to be given as a Christmas gift.

FLOWING GLORY'S HOME

Here's a picture our cousins, the Coryell's, just sent to us of the "Flowing Glory" barn quilt that we made for their friends and ours, the Edmonds, who then gifted it to the Coryell's son and daughter-in-law. It is hanging near Conway, Missouri. The building used to be the old "Good Springs Church" but was moved to their farm years ago and converted to their garage. It really adds color to the building and looks great! We love seeing all the different places our barn quilts end up calling home.

DIRECTOR'S DREAM - GREEN

Here's another "Director's Dream" we just finished. This is our green version. We make it in blue, brown, red, green and, soon to be, yellow. This one is hanging at the "Buck and Jo's Too" restaurant in Winchester and is a 2 x 2 for sale for $60. Thanks for looking.

PIKE COUNTY FALL COLOR DRIVE

We had a great time this past Saturday at the home of Carroll and Sue Cox just west of Pittsfield. They had a handful of vendors there and we were able to set our barn quilts, and our daughter's home décor items, up in front of their original log cabin. Mark went in his Colonial outfit and gave tours of the cabin along with keeping a fire going in the fireplace. It was really needed since it was pretty cool and windy.

We had a number of potential contacts and sold some inventory. Thanks to all who came by and visited with us. We hope to set up there again next year. A big thank you to the Cox's and their family for hosting such a great event.

MARINER'S COMPASS

One of our daughter's is a teacher at the Bluffs Elementary School and we were asked to donate a barn quilt to their 3rd Annual PTO Penny Carnival to help raise funds for school activities. We said yes and here is the 2 x 2 Mariner's Compass that will be auctioned off at the event on Sunday Oct. 26th from 1-3 p.m. Come by and participate if you can. We'd really appreciate it.

PANDA PATCH

Our three oldest grandkids all wanted barn quilts for their rooms so the two older one's each picked one from our inventory but the youngest wanted one out of our book of 5500 patterns. So, this is what she decided on. I made her a 12" Panda Patch and she is so proud of it.

PRAIRIE LAND HERITAGE STEAM SHOW 2014

We had a great three days at the show this past weekend. We got some good orders and had a number of people that were going to order once they went home and measured up what they would need.

Thanks to all who stopped by our booth and bought, ordered or just said "hi" and chatted for awhile. It was great seeing you.

One of the best things that happened this weekend was that our friends, Richard and Carol Edmonds, came and brought our cousins, Stanley and Betty Coryell, to pick up their new barn quilts, "God's Eye" and "Flowing Glory." It was the first time we had met Stanley and Betty and, though short, we had a great visit.

We look forward to being at the Steam Show again next year.

GREENE GABLES INN

We had a great time last Saturday at the Car "Boot" Sale at the Greene Gables Inn in Whitehall. There was a steady number of people that came thru and the weather was great. We sold some barn quilts and took a number of orders. We look forward to doing it again next year. Our grandson Landon Wahl was a great help to us tear down as well.

Our thanks to the Greene Gables Inn owners and staff for a great event.

LONE STAR

This is "Lone Star". I saw that Laurel Barn Quilts had made one like this so I altered mine a little from theirs. Had the points overlap the border to give it a different effect. This is a 2 footer for sale for $60.

Our business started about a year and a half ago and this is the 75th barn quilt we've made.

BLUFFS PICNIC

When the rain finally subsided about noonish this past Saturday we were able to set our small barn quilt display up at the Bluffs Picnic. I think the temperature was perfect and it turned out to be a great event. Our youngest grandson Aiden got lots of candy at the parade (see how excited he was!)and mom and dad gave free barrel train rides. Their church handed our Gospel tracts as well. It was a wonderful time.

PRICE FARM

This is the Robert Price Farm on the west edge of Whitehall, IL. This is the Windmill Star hung on a building at a location just past the last curve heading out of town towards Hillview. It's on the south side of the road.

On down the road about half a mile is where the Harvest Star now hangs. It's on a building close to this fantastic barn. The four foot barn quilts turned out nice and look great.

Further down the road a little you find another of the Price barns. This round barn just looks wonderful!

GOLF STAR

Here is a neat barn quilt we designed for one of our customers who also allow us to display our bq's at their restaurant, Buck & Jo's Too in Winchester.

One of the co-owner's wanted something with a golfing theme so this is called "Golf Star" and is a 2 footer currently hanging at their business. It has a lot of colors in it and, once again, our camera does not do it justice. The boarder is dark blue and the golf club is dark grey, light grey and black. Stop by, have a great meal and see the barn quilts. Thanks for looking.

BARN QUILTS: BRINGING US TOGETHER!

Here's a great barn quilt story. A customer had us create this "God's Eye" BQ for them this past Fall. They did not get it hung until this Spring. Some friends of theirs who live in Missouri liked it and wants us to make a similar one but in different colors. When we contacted the customer in Mo. to go over details, we discovered that we are related to them! We didn't know anything about them but we do now! We're so excited to get to know them and will meet them this Fall when they pick up their order at the Prairie Land Steam Show in Jacksonville, IL. All because of a barn quilt.

Here's a couple great pictures of the BQ on the customers granary. It's located in Carlinville IL.
